Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures of being a mom while living my best life. Hope you have a nice stay!

New Years in Siesta Key, Florida

New Years in Siesta Key, Florida

Something that has been quite the tradition for us is traveling to Florida for the week after Christmas. It is so much fun ringing in the New Year on the beach. There are no expectations, no wild parties and you get to do whatever brings you joy because well you are on vacation. I have written about Siesta Key, Florida numerous times and I will continue to do so because this place is a slice of my heart down in the Sunshine State.

Siesta Key is so kid friendly it is unbelievable. It has something for everyone and we continue to go back year after year. Now let me start by saying we stay at the Crescent Royale Condos. My parents rent out their condo and you can find that link here. It is a two bedroom, two bathroom condo directly across/ocean views from the beach. It has an amazing pool and a full kitchen. The condo is walking distance (0.25 mile) to the public beach play ground area. Elliott absolutely loved this and did not want to leave. It has lots of slides, climbing areas and it is shaded!

Another activity we did one morning was to go to the Mote Aquarium. It is about a 20 minute drive from Siesta Key. We arrived just when they opened at 10 and it was perfect timing because it was not to crowded yet. We were able to look at everything that we desired and Elliott was in awe of all the creatures. They have sting rays and starfish that kiddos can touch. Elliott loved the sharks partially because we sang baby shark.

The condo we stay at is walking distance to the village approximately one mile so bring your walking shoes and strollers! We love to walk to the village for breakfast. One of our favorite spots is Sun Garden. Literally everything on their menu is perfection!.

Another activity we always do while in Florida is rent a boat and go out on the intercoastal. It is a totally different way to see Florida. If you are comfortable driving a boat this is the best day activity. You can boat to intercoastal restaurants and bars. This trip we even were able to locate a private beach that is only accessible by boats. It was so fun and peaceful. We love boating to Casey Key Oyster Bar but you can also drive there. The other place we love to go on boat is called Pop’s Sunset Grille but also a fun place to drive to. It is about 20 minutes away via car.

Restaurants on Siesta Key that are a MUST include; Siesta Key Oyster Bar (get the grouper bites), The Cottage and Gilligan’s. If you are looking for a martini the go to place is Blase Martini Bar—order the chocolate martini then two more. The entire Siesta Key Village has so much fun things to do, small shops and bars! If you need dessert make sure you hit up the mini donut stand or Olaf’s for ice cream.

If you are looking for another day trip make the venture south to Venice, Florida. Walk the pier, the beach and grab lunch at Sharky’s. It is right on the water outside and a beautiful view.

There are so many amazing things in the area and always trying something new while visiting. I highly suggest getting out, exploring and enjoying the area. There are big box stores off the island but a small grocery store located in the village. You can have your groceries delivered or plan to go early in the day. Traffic getting on and off the island later in the day can be a real pain.

My last recommendation if you are wanting to have family pictures taken is to reach out to my dear friend Elizabeth with Black Pineapple Photography. She books months in advance but she is the BEST for family photos. Her talent is something you see on Pinterest!

I hope this post creates an itch to travel and that you may venture to Siesta Key! Like I said this is my happy place and I think you will fall in love too!
