Siesta Key, Florida Five Day Itinerary
Siesta Key, a barrier island off the coast of Sarasota, Florida, is famed for its powdery white sand beaches and vibrant local culture. An ideal itinerary for a visit to this charming destination would blend relaxation, adventure, and local flavor.
Day 1: Arrival and Beach Time
Begin your Siesta Key adventure by checking into your accommodation, whether it's a cozy beachside cottage or a luxurious resort.
My biggest suggestion to those visiting is to have your groceries delivered to your accomodations so that it takes the extra steps out of arrival. After settling in, head straight to Siesta Beach, often ranked among the best beaches in the United States. Spend the afternoon basking in the sun, swimming in the crystal-clear waters, or simply walking along the shore. In the evening, explore Siesta Key Village, a bustling area filled with shops, restaurants, and bars. Enjoy a seafood dinner at one of the local eateries, such as The Cottage or Siesta Key Oyster Bar, and then unwind with a cocktail as you listen to live music.
Day 2: Outdoor Adventures and Exploration
Kick off your second day with a morning kayak tour through the mangroves at Turtle Beach. This eco-friendly adventure offers a chance to spot local wildlife, including manatees and a variety of bird species. After your paddle head to the beach for more relaxation time. In the afternoon, consider renting a bike to explore the island at a leisurely pace or take a guided fishing charter if you're an angling enthusiast. For dinner, try Ophelia’s on the Bay for a fine dining experience with stunning waterfront views.
Day 3: Culture and Relaxation
Start your final day with a peaceful morning yoga session on the beach, offered by several local instructors. Then, delve into the cultural side of Siesta Key by visiting the nearby city of Sarasota. Explore the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art, which houses an impressive collection of European paintings and a beautifully manicured garden. Return to Siesta Key in the afternoon for some final beach time or perhaps a spa treatment to conclude your trip on a relaxing note. Cap off your stay with a sunset cruise, watching the sky turn a brilliant array of colors as you sail back to shore. Be sure to snag dinner at one of the local spots in the Village!
Day 4: Exploring and Hiking
Start the morning with breakfast at Sun Garden then, head over to Point of Rocks, a popular snorkeling site known for its diverse marine life and unique limestone formations.I suggest bringing water shoes because walking on the rocks can be painful. Check out this reel for more details on navigating point of rocks! After lunch in your accomodations head back to the beach for an afternoon of fun in the sun! Head to the Village for dinner at Siesta Key Oyster Bar also known as SKOB! Be prepared to wait as it is loved my most!
Day 5: Boating
Head down to CB’s marina and rent a pontoon for the day. (I highly suggest calling ahead of time to reserve. You can boat South to Casey Key Fish House! They have an amazing tiki right on the water to snag a pina colada at while waitng for a table during peak season! This area is gorgeous and so welcoming!
